Coping With
Depression Through Mindfulness

Based
on the book
“Mindfulness-Based Cognitive
Therapy for Depression”
by Segal, William & Teasdale.
This is a 10-week
psycho education group that will help clients learn to manage their symptoms and
prevent future relapses.
The Core Aims of Group Therapy for Depression
are:
 |
To help
participants who suffer from depression learn skills to cope with symptoms and prevent relapse. |
 |
To increase
participants awareness of body
sensations, feelings, and thoughts from moment to moment. |
 |
To help participants develop a
different way of relating to sensations, thoughts, and feelings – specifically,
mindful acceptance and acknowledgment of unwanted feelings and thoughts, rather
than habitual, automatic, preprogrammed routines that tend to perpetuate
difficulties. |
 |
To help
participants choose the most skillful response to unpleasant thoughts, feelings, or
